Toggi and Hambro Scholarship Winner Work Together in New Partnership

We are proud to announce our partnership with Hambro Sport Horses to support their new Scholarship program.

Lexi and Jonathan Hambro set up the Hambro Scholarship last year with the main prize being the ride on HH Monbeg Vogue, an Event horse valued at £30,000 with a great Eventing record and 3 top 10 placings at BE100, piloted by Windrush Foundation rider Alicia Hawker. They purposely kept HH Monbeg Vogue at BE100 to allow the winner of the scholarship to really build a partnership and go as far as they can.

The Hambro family name has long been associated with equestrianism. Jonathan’s family-owned and bred racehorses. Lexi was a young eventer and has spent much of her life around horses. Now, Jonathan and Lexi have turned their passion into their work.

“Around four years ago we decided to buy a 1/4 share of an event horse, Billy Senora. That 1/4 share has now turned into ten horses and I am sure it will keep growing. Since buying into Billy Senora, we noticed that those at the top get a lot of rides and those who are at the bottom struggle to afford a horse let alone have one to compete” says Lexi.

“Britain has an incredible record in Eventing. Yet for all the many British riders victorious at Badminton, Burghley and the Olympics over the decades, the list of winning British horses is much shorter “Lexi adds “so, we set out on a mission: To pair brilliant young homegrown riders with a new generation of exceptional British horses.”

Niamh Richardson is from North Yorkshire and wins the ride on HH Monbeg Vogue known affectionately as Robin. Niamh made the final out of 720 successful applicants. 88 were asked to submit a video for the next stage and then 18 riders were interviewed before getting to the final 3, all with the support from Alicia Hawker, Becky Heappey, and Tom Jackson.

Niamh said “One of my go-to brands has always been Toggi. From funky socks to my Cartmel Show shirt, there is something to suit every occasion! I take great pride in how my horse and I look, especially at shows. I love entering the ring knowing that my horse and I are both turned out beautifully. Toggi’s varied collections allow me to feel this pride both at home and competing. Having the chance to work with all these brands is incredible but having the chance to work with brands that I already trusted such as Toggi definitely makes it even more special!”

Naimh will receive a range of training and competition clothing from the Toggi Sport and Core Legwear Collections, including the Contour and Flexi Breeches, our amazing ladies Reflector base layer, and our very waterproof Defender jacket which will all be dual-branded with the Hambro and Toggi logos. The team supporting Niamh will also receive branded Defender jackets to add to the team spirit and capitalise on those photo and selfie moments!

We would like to welcome Niamh to the team and we cannot wait to see her partnership grow with Robin.
